I’m Megan Dusenbery - wife, mom of four energetic kids and manager at KC Kids Photo.
Life with four children has shaped me into a natural multitasker, quick problem-solver and someone who can stay calm even when things get a little chaotic. I truly believe those lessons were written into my life on purpose. They come in handy every day as I help keep KC Kids Photo running smoothly, ensuring that our photographers and assistants, school staff and students, and families all feel supported, cared for, and confident in our company. In many ways, managing my household and helping manage our company go hand in hand - both require patience, organization, grace and a whole lot of heart.
At the center of everything I do is my faith. It quietly shapes the way I approach each day - at home and at work - reminding me to lead with kindness, humility and gratitude. I strive to be a good steward of the people placed in my care, treating others with respect, compassion and understanding. I have been deeply blessed by motherhood and becoming a mom has shaped not only my heart, but the way I serve, lead and show up for others. The lessons I’ve learned at home - patience, gentleness and unconditional love - guide me just as much in my work as they do in raising my children.
I have always known I was meant to be a mom, and having children of my own was very important to me, even from a young age. My nurturing, motherly spirit carries into everything I do and guides the way I lead. I strive to be welcoming, caring, and kind, whether I’m helping a parent over the phone, supporting our staff, or guiding a photographer through a process. I love working at KC Kids Photo because it allows me to serve others in meaningful ways behind the scenes - the kind of work that often happens quietly, but matters deeply. From overseeing daily operations to addressing customer service needs with compassion and understanding, I get to help make every picture day smooth and stress-free, even without being on-site at the schools.
As manager, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside KC Kids Photo - beginning as an assistant, then a photographer, and now serving in my current role. That journey has given me a deep appreciation for every position within our company. It allows me to lead with empathy, offer encouragement, and ensure each staff member feels valued, prepared and supported. I take great pride in the responsibility of my role and in working closely with our owner as we’ve grown the company together. Being trusted with a voice in shaping our future is something I don’t take lightly, and it’s something I’m incredibly grateful for.
My goal at KC Kids Photo is always to ensure that schools feel confident in our company, families feel truly heard and supported, and our staff can focus on capturing meaningful moments without added stress. I work diligently to remove the worries behind the scenes so our photographers, schools, and families can focus on what matters most. As a mom, I’m reminded daily how quickly childhood passes - how their little hands suddenly grow bigger, how a favorite outfit no longer fits the way it used to, how the mispronounced word you once smiled at is suddenly said correctly, and how these moments silently slip by if we’re not paying attention. I know firsthand that the photos we take today often become the memories we hold onto tomorrow, and that belief is what fuels my passion for helping capture each milestone before it quietly becomes a memory.
When I’m not at work, my greatest priority is being fully present with my family. Loving and caring for my husband and our four children is the most important role I hold, and family truly is everything to me. The moments we share together - in the bustle of busy weeknights, the stillness of quiet evenings when the world slows down, or gathered with extended family each Sunday - are what ground me. They gently remind me why these memories matter so deeply and why balance is so important. Pouring into my family at home allows me to pour into my work with intention and care, and serving others through my work helps me return home more present and grateful. It’s a daily rhythm that I value deeply - one rooted in faith, family, and a life built with purpose.
